Inorganic chemistry is the study of the structure, properties, and reactions of all chemical elements and compounds except for organic compounds. Inorganic compounds originate from mineral source and they do not contain carbon (some exception are). for Example Sodium hydroxide, Calcium chloride, Sulphuric acid etc.

Branches of inorganic chemistry are:

Bioinorganic chemistry: It study of the role of different metals in biology eg. Metal in enzymes

Coordination chemistry: It study of coordination compounds and interactions of ligands eg. EDTA

Geochemistry: It study of the earth’s chemical composition, rocks, minerals & atmosphere

Nuclear chemistry: It deals with the study of radioactive substances eg. Radium, Thorium etc.

Organometallic chemistry: It study of chemicals that contain bonds between metal and organic compounds.

Industrial inorganic chemistry: It study of materials used in the manufacturing of fertilizers
